My favorite so far today:
”It’s kind of like Johnny Cash — you don’t interrupt the guy in black.” - Judge to defendant.

This is kind of a lousy picture, but that’s a crack pipe. It is one of two found in this guy’s car. This one was hidden in his smokes. The cellophane of which was filled with “what appears to be” marijuana.
Bad news for the driver who was just picking up his buddies from the bar. [...]

Ridealong with APD, originally uploaded by jonesdaily.
Collision on Wishkah. One dead washing machine.
UPDATE: It was a clothes dryer actually.
Witnesses say a pregnant woman in a Beamer blew through a red light and spun this Toyota pickup truck around, which bucked the dryer out of the bed and sent it bouncing down the street.
Toyota driver was pissed [...]

That’s what the woman said as she came into the newsroom today. She said she needed to tell the editors what people want to read about in their hometown newspaper.
“I want to read about stuff in town,” she said.

I’m looking into a story about Hoquiam churches. It’s not simple, but some believe homosexuals should be allowed in congregations and others do not.
My publisher said there isn’t a really good way to verify whether, “God loves gays.” Only God knows that for sure.
“If you can get ahold of God,” my publisher said, “ask Him to comment.”

So while at the marina yesterday, I happened to witness a strange thing — a flock of seagulls dive-bombing a sea lion that was trying to hold onto its fish.
This short battle included lots of splashing and thrashing. It seemed kind of cool, (I wish I had better shots) but I had a wide-angle attached. So [...]

Welcome to the Westport Marina on a cold, wet and dreary Wednesday. I stopped by to take this and a couple other pictures yesterday for Leif’s story on the upcoming salmon season. Like most assignments, I got soaked. But the marina is pretty freaking cool.
I can’t wait until the paper gets a video camera, so I [...]

First of all, it’s been snowing here for like three days. Not sticking, but snowing, sleeting, raining, hailing and just plain dripping. It’s almost April. Apparently, it’s happening everywhere.
So I spent lunch listening to two waitresses argue about whether it was snowing or hailing. I think they were both right. On the way back to [...]
