“I need to speak to an editor!”

That’s what the woman said as she came into the newsroom today. She said she needed to tell the editors what people want to read about in their hometown newspaper.
“I want to read about stuff in town,” she said.
She doesn’t want to see a story about a teenager in California stabbing another teenager in California. She doesn’t care about all the latest scandals.
“We want to know what the sirens are downtown,” she said. “We want to know what’s going on in our town.”
I have to agree with her. It seems to make sense.
For the record: the newspaper just finished a readership survey. Hopefully it mentioned similar things. I missed the workshop and the only information I’ve heard from the survey is that “Garfield” is our most popular comic strip.
The woman left without speaking to an editor. They were all busy.
Anyway, I think we’re trying. Maybe we don’t try as hard as we could, but I ask about all those freaking sirens every day, and I print whatever I can find out.
If anyone in Grays Harbor reads this and would like to let me know what the paper is missing or any other general feedback, that would be great.
This is your town and your newspaper. Short of specific requests, we’re going to do what we can.
And that woman, a Harborite and reader, can know that at least one person heard her today.
Garfield, by the way, is the worst comic. Unless, of course, you’re talking about “Garfield Minus Garfield.”

aberdeen/hoquiam has a newspaper?
I suppose that I should clarify, that my previous comment was meant to be a joke, nothing bad was meant by it. You guys do good work over there.
Thank you.
