A lot of people made fun of the attention this story received, but it obviously hit a nerve. A couple council members stated they received more calls on the domestic fowl issue than on almost any other topic during their service.
These decisions effect people’s everyday lives — on both sides of the debate — and that seems kind of important.
This is democracy.
And it’s kind of fun to watch.

Salem, OR is dealing with this issue right now, but from the other direction… a group is trying to get chickens legalized within the city limits.
It certainly has raised the ire of lots of folks.
