Living on the coast means my editor sends me to take pictures at the beach quite a bit. Sometimes it’s a perfectly pleasant day, like above.

And sometimes it’s a nightmarish onslaught of 50-mph sand, surf and wind to the face like yesterday. Enjoy.

This random guy was leaning backward into the incredibly strong winds.

Massive waves wash through Westport

Huge waves washed into Westport last weekend, spilling into the streets and blocking businesses. It was pretty fun to watch.

Pfc. Aaron Fairbairn’s mother runs her fingers across his name, which was unveiled as the newest addition to the Aberdeen veterans memorial downtown.

I also attended a book signing for a new book about Harbor Marines who served in the Korean War. Author Ted Reynvaan, left, also brought photos to show the other veterans who attended.

Fire ravages downtown building

Stouffer-Moore’s Floor Covering building burned last night in a spectacular blaze. Hopefully, the paper is putting together an online slideshow, but here are a few that didn’t make the cut:

The corner stage

We played the corner stage outside (Stage 2) on Sunday afternoon, rocking the beer garden. Here’s a couple shots from Elizabeth.

We’ll be back inside Wednesday night, opening for the Pogues tribute Thursdsay night and finishing up Friday night. Hope to see some folks.

We cover “Wagon Wheel” with the help of Art from Darby O’Gill on Sunday during the Celtic Music Festival at the Galway Bay Irish Pub in Ocean Shores. Some amazing acts. Please ignore the one ridiculously wrong chord I hit. Thanks Elizabeth for running the camera.
